Hatley Drive resident given a $30,000 bond

COLUMBUS—The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Columbus man for selling methamphetamine.

Joseph Mitchell Case, of 325 Hatley Drive, Columbus, was arrested and charged with sell and delivery of methamphetamine and sell/deliver methamphetamine within 100 feet of a school.

Hatley Drive is located off Houston Road, just behind Polk County High School.

Sheriff’s office officials said after receiving multiple complaints of illegal drug sales occurring at Case’s residence, investigators with the Special Operation’s Division conducted an undercover operation for the purpose of purchasing methamphetamine from Case.

During the operation, sheriff’s office officials said, investigators were able to successfully purchase methamphetamine from Case.

After the purchase, warrants were issued for his arrest.

The sheriff’s office conducted a search warrant at the residence on July 8 and found further illegal contraband, according to sheriff reports.

Case was not at home during the search, but investigators located him on July 9 and took him into custody without incident. Further drug paraphernalia was located at the home during the search warrant, according to sheriff reports.

Case was booked into the Polk County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond.
