Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

As we are gearing up for the 2020 Feed a Kid season, we are dealing with new realities.

We will not be delivering to the homes as we have done for the last seven years. Instead, there will be weekly pick-up stations at all four elementary schools manned in turn by volunteers from the six participating churches, Congregational Church of Tryon, Tryon United Methodist Church, Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross, Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration of Saluda, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and First Baptist Church of Tryon.

The 2020 season is compressed into six weeks which allows us to provide food for the whole family and to include more fresh fruits and vegetables. To this end, 15 enthusiastic members and pastor Meghan Young of the Congregational Church ventured out to Hardscrabble Hollow Farm in Rutherfordton where the owner graciously allowed us to glean blueberries. We returned with 220 pounds of berries that will be included in the family bags at our first delivery on July the 9.
