TACS offering bilingual youth art camp

Tryon Arts and Crafts School (TACS) welcomes Andean visual artist and bilingual educator Byron Tenesaca as lead instructor for its annual Summer Sizzler youth art camps throughout July 2020.

This is the first year TACS offers bilingual youth art instruction in four camps targeting ages six through 14 with a variety of culturally rich projects including hand building clay ocharinas – traditional Andean mouth instruments, reduction drawing photograms on light sensitive paper, and basket weaving.

Originally from the Andes Mountains of South America, Tenesaca is finishing a Master of Arts in Teaching from Western Carolina University. Tenesaca’s personal work in 2 dimensional media uses imagery of common scenes in western NC “ to form…canvases for sun printing imagery/symbols/patterns synonymous with his Andean heritage…layering memories, culture, and history from the Andean and Appalachia mountain regions together.”
