Polk County High School graduates, Landry Edwards and Nicholas Lopez, have been named recipients of the 2020 Pea Ridge Community Center Academic Scholarships.

Landry is the daughter of Tim and Alicia Edwards. Following graduation from Polk County High School, she plans to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Her plans are to eventually go to Graduate School and specialize in Child Psychology.

Landry has volunteered in Polk Central’s PEAK After School Program, Tryon Half Marathon, Rise Against Hunger, Blood Drive and Tryon Estates (Nursing Home). She was a Junior Marshal in 2019. She was a member of the Polk County High School volleyball from 2015-19 and was Team Captain in 2017.

Among her activities and honors are the National Technical Honors Society, HOSA, FFA, Key Club, National Honors Society and Blue Crew. Landry has an older brother and a younger sister.

Nicolas, the son of Beverly Carroll and Jose Lopez, graduated from Polk County High School in June and plans to attend Appalachian State University. His goal is to possibly work in the field of Computer Science.

Nicolas has been active in the youth group at Big Level Baptist Church. He has spent many hours at blood drives and helping the Women’s Group with Operation Christmas Child projects. Nicolas is a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honors Society, National Society of High School Scholars and captain of the soccer team. He was recipient of the New Century Scholar Award, has been a part of the Key Club, FFA, HOSA Clubs. Nicolas has five brothers and sisters.

The Pea Ridge Community Club is pleased to present a $500 academic scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Pea Ridge community.
