Polk County offering more free COVID-19 tests
COLUMBUS—Polk County is offering more free testing for COVID-19 for people with or without symptoms.
No appointment is necessary.
The testing began Tuesday and will continue Wednesday from 8:30-11 a.m.
The testing is being done at 40 Ward St., Columbus.
Free testing without an appointment began last week for people with or without symptoms. The county did the testing last Wednesday.
As of Friday, Polk County still had 87 tests pending, including from the drive-thru testing.
Polk County had completed 1,191 tests as of Friday, with 48 people presumed recovered. The county has completed a total of 213 drive-thru tests and had 99 weekly message line calls.
After the free testing on Wednesday, to get tested, people can call Polk County’s COVID-19 message line at 828-722-5086.
