COLUMBUS – Charles Michael Greene, 62, of Columbus, passed away, Sunday morning, May 31, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital, Greenville following a brief illness.

Born in Tryon, he was the son of Mossine Plumley Constance of Columbus and the late Charles Larry Greene. Mike graduated from Landrum High School in 1977. During his high school years, Mike excelled at various sports including football, tennis, and basketball. Mike went on to become a certified locksmith and worked in Polk County and surrounding areas for many years. Currently he was employed with Star Asset Security in Greer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tryon and served as a deacon.

Mike enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, grilling, Jeep rides, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claude and Beluah Greene; maternal grandparents, Taft and Mamie Plumley and stepfather, Ernest Constance.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife of thirty-four years, Dianne “Di” Chambers Greene; two daughters, Carrie Greene Hughey (Grayson) and Jamie Greene; step-mother, Carolyn Greene; four sisters, Judy Hefner (Gary), Diane Constance, Denise Constance and Tammy Rainey (Dustin); two uncles, Donny Greene (Jean) and William “Dickie” Plumley. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in Polk Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jeff Harris officiating.

The use of mask and social distancing are strongly encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be made in memory of Mike to the Capital Campaign at First Baptist Church of Tryon, P.O. Box 1287, Tryon, North Carolina 28782.
