The Polk Baptist Association (PBA) Care Kitchen plans to re-open with a drive-by meal of spaghetti, salad and toast on Friday, June 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You are asked to remain in your car as servers deliver the carry-outs to you.

Eight years ago this spring, the PBA Care Kitchen was just a dream. The idea was first discussed by a committee from local churches who felt there was a need for providing a good meal to those in the area. Following several weeks of planning, the first no-cost Friday lunch was served on May 4, 2012.

The meal is especially nice for those who live alone or have no other family in the home at lunchtime. Often when local workers tire of eating at the fast food places, this is a welcome change for them.

All are invited to the lower level of the Polk Baptist Association Office, located at 208 Blanton St in Columbus every Friday. The meal is free. Churches and groups are encouraged to collect and deliver non-perishables for use in our Care Kitchen.

Now, during the spring and summer, we ask that you plant extra tomatoes and vegetables in your garden and to think of donating a portion of the yield to this project.
