The idea that Dr. Brandon Schweitzer had to recognize the graduating classes of Polk County High School and Polk County Early College became reality on Monday.

Signs recognizing each senior in the Class of 2020 were installed during the afternoon in front of Stearns Education Center and Polk County Early College. Each sign contains the name and photo of a member of the Class of 2020.

Funding from the Polk County chapter of the North Carolina Association of Educators helped support the project. Schweitzer designed the signs and worked with Bradley Printing in Shelby to make his vision a reality.

Polk County High School seniors are represented at Stearns, with PCEC’s graduating class adorning the roadside area at the front of its campus.

Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene, who helped install the signs, said the district hopes to leave the displays in place for the next few weeks, then will allow each senior to have his or her sign.
