There has been 31 COVID-19 cases and 9 released from isolation

POLK COUNTY—Polk County has remained at 31 cases this week but added another death on Monday.

The county now has 3 deaths from COVID-19.

The county also has 9 people who have suffered from the disease but have recovered and been released from isolation as of Monday afternoon.

The state of North Carolina had 15,346 cases as of Monday, with 577 total deaths.

There have been 202,244 tests across the state and 475 were hospitalized as of Tuesday.

Polk County’s cases are currently mostly in Saluda with 16. All residential zip codes have now been affected, with another 7 in the Tryon zip code, 8 in the Columbus zip code and 4 in the Mill Spring zip code. Some zip codes in Polk County are not indicative of the town ship, including the Green Creek township, which has both Tryon and Columbus zip codes.

As of Tuesday, Buncombe County reached over 100 positive cases with 103 and 4 deaths, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Henderson County had 237 cases as of Tuesday, with 28 deaths; Rutherford County had 152 cases and 5 deaths and Transylvania County remained at 7 cases and zero deaths.

Polk County is giving details on cases and tests every Friday. As of last Friday, the county had done a total of 311 tests with 31 positives and 271 negatives. There were 9 pending and 2 deaths as of Friday. Polk County officials announced the 3^rd death on Monday.

There were 9 people released from isolation and 31 of the tests had been done by the drive-thru. The county has also responded to 53 message line calls.

Of the positive cases in Polk County, 67.7 percent have been female and 32.3 percent have been male. Most of the positive cases have been in the 65 age and older range, with between 5-10 cases being in the 25-49 age rang and 5 cases being in the 50-64 age range. Polk County has not yet had a positive case of anyone age zero to 17 years old as of Friday.
