Saluda area has the most at 16 cases

POLK COUNTY—The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is releasing more detailed information about COVID-19 cases, including cases by zip code.

Polk County has 4 zip codes, with the most cases being in Saluda’s 28733 zip code with 16 cases.

Polk County announced its first death on Thursday, but there are no details on where that person lived.

Polk County as of Thursday evening had a total of 31 cases, with 8 of those being released from isolation and 1 death. Polk County’s first case was announced on March 26.

There are 7 cases in Tryon’s zip code of 28782, 8 cases in Columbus’ zip code of 28722 and 2 cases in Mill Spring’s zip code of 28756. There are now no zip codes in the county that do not have confirmed cases as of Thursday. Mill Spring just added its 2 cases this week. It is not yet been documented which zip code the COVID-19 death resided.

As of Friday morning, North Carolina had a total of 13,868 confirmed cases, with 527 deaths, an increase of 20 deaths from Thursday. The state has completed 178,613 tests, with 515 people currently hospitalized, which was a decrease of 10 people hospitalized from Thursday. The virus has been confirmed in 99 of the state’s 100 counties.

South Carolina as of Thursday evening had 7,142 cases with 316 deaths.

The United States had 1,247,574 case and 75,094 deaths.

There were 325 cases in Spartanburg County; 835 cases in Greenville County; 3 cases in the Landrum zip code and 6 cases in the Campobello zip code, according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
