Dean Thomas Horton

 

COLUMBUS – Dean Thomas Horton, 88, of Columbus passed away April 24, 2020 at Upstate Community Hospice House.  He was the son of the late Walter C. and Jane Nancy Pruitt Horton and husband for 61 years to the late Joyce McIntyre Horton.

 

He was in the US Army in the Korean War as a Bridge Specialist.  He worked at Landrum Mills for 44 years and a member of Peniel Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by a son, Dennis L. Horton (Sara); a daughter, Deanna H. Hardin (Steve); a brother, John Horton; grandchildren, Erin McNeill (Chad), Justin Horton (Victoria), Jared Horton (Sara), Holly Horton, Emily Hardin, Leah Hardin and Trey Staton (Rachel); great grandchildren, Kaydence Wilkey, Anslee McNeill, Addi McNeill, Lane Horton, Layla Horton and Nola Staton.

 

In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by a son, Billy Horton; six brothers, Glenn, Harley, James, Delmer, Joe and Israel Horton; five sisters, Ruth Belue, Lucille Durham, Monie Jackson, Gladys Hutcherson and Annie Whiteside.

 

Services will be private due to the Covid-19.  Burial will be at Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC  29356.
