City joins other municipalities in reducing services
SALUDA—The City of Saluda is joining other communities in helping to stop the spread of the Coronavirus by closing city hall to the public.
Tryon and Columbus have also enacted similar measures.
Saluda officials are asking utility customers to make payments by placing an envelope with the account name and number in the drop box outside city hall or to mail payments to P.O. Box 248, Saluda, NC 28773. Anyone who needs to contact city hall can call 828-749-2581 and leave a message.
The best way to contact city hall employees is by emailing admin@cityofsaluda.com.
Public works employees will still be operating and people are ask to give them space when they are out working so they do not risk illness.
“They are critical to maintaining sewer and water infrastructure,” Saluda City Manager Jonathan Cannon said.
The police department will also be operating, with anyone having an emergency asked to call 911 and for non-emergencies to call the Polk County Communications Office at 828-894-0187.
“Our staff must remain well to ensure water distribution, sewer collection and police protection,” Cannon said. “We will do our best to respond promptly. Thank you for your understanding.”
