Council presents Jamie Carpenter with proclamation
TRYON—The Town of Tryon bid farewell this week to the Tryon Downtown Development Association’s first-ever executive director Jamie Carpenter.
Tryon Town Council met Tuesday and presented Carpenter with a proclamation.
The TDDA also gave Carpenter a reception on Thursday evening.
Tryon Town Manager Zach Ollis thanked Carpenter for all the work she put in and said people can see it.
“If you look at downtown now as opposed to when you started; a lot of that is thanks to the work you put in and all of the TDDA volunteers,” Ollis said to Carpenter. “I wish you the best.”
Carpenter resigned recently to the Downtown Economic Development Coordinator position for the City of Hendersonville. She was TDDA’s first executive director and has been in that position for four and ½ years.
Tryon Mayor Alan Peoples and all commissioners spoke of what a wonderful job Carpenter did for downtown Tryon.
Commissioner Bill Crowell thanked Carpenter for everything and said the town will miss her. Carpenter is going to continue to live in Tryon.
Commissioner Crys Armbrust also thanked Carpenter for her service to Tryon as well as commissioners Bill Ingham and Chrelle Booker.
Peoples said his hat is off to Carpenter for the work she has done for tryon. He said when the TDDA discussed hiring an executive director a few years ago he was not on board with the idea.
“I was wrong,” Peoples said. “You have been a godsend.”
The TDDA plans to meet soon to consider its next steps concerning a new executive director.
