Landrum, SC – The Lord chose to take Tom to Heaven on Christmas Eve December 24, 2019, leaving his loving wife Mary Ellen of 36 years.
Tom was so proud of serving God and his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was on an aircraft carrier and told stories of seeing the world on the U.S.S. Tarawa. Tom was born in Toledo, OH. He went to the University of Toledo and loved Ohio State. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. He worked for Owens Corning, Libby Glass and General Motors and held offices in Indian Guides and the YMCA in Ohio.
Tom enjoyed his retirement of 32 years in Landrum and being a SC Gamecock fan. Over the years, he worked for his church in various capacities. He was the first president of the local Crime Stoppers in this area.
He leaves behind 2 sons, a daughter and son in law, 1 step daughter and step son, 1 step daughter in law, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was planning on having a great Christmas with one of his grandchildren this year.
Services will be held at a later date.
