Roland Street in Landrum to be removed
LANDRUM – Landrum City Council voted to permanently close Roland Street between Shamrock Avenue and Church Avenue. Councilman Billy Inman led the motion to close Roland. The council agreed with a unanimous vote.
The current state of Roland Street is not a safe environment. When it rains, there seems to be a lot of flooding that goes over the road.
The council all agreed to remove the existing road and the council plans to offer the remaining land to the property owners adjacent to the current road.
Further, they stated that with the removal of the roadbed, they plan to reseed the area so that it can be used as extra yard space for adjacent property owners instead of leaving it as an eyesore of a forgotten road.
Council did not share when or how long the removal of the road will occur.
