Time to dust off the Tuba’s

Published 10:22 pm Monday, October 28, 2019

TubaChristmas will return for the 22nd year on Saturday, December 7th. The performance will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Polk County High School.

Merry TubaChristmas is celebrating its 46th anniversary, having been created by Harvey Phillips to honor his mentor / teacher, the late great tubist William J. Bell. Every Christmas season, tuba and euphonium players of all ages, 8 to 90, gather to perform traditional Christmas carols as well as some special works.

There are 50-70 players on the stage playing together to make a warm, rich organ-like sound that has won ears and hearts of every audience. This year the conductor will be Dr. Joe Brashier.
