Commissioners approve Kindred Ln., Jack Denton Ln. and Chix A Lot Ln.

POLK COUNTY—The Polk County Board of Commissioners approved new road names during its meeting Monday night. 

The new road names are all private roads. 

Kindred Lane was named off SR1306 in the Sunny View community; Jack Denton Lane was named off SR1525 in the Columbus Township and Chix A Lot Lane was named off SR1137 in the Columbus Township.

Commissioners held a public hearing prior to approving the new road names, but no one spoke. 

The county approved amendments to its road-naming ordinance last year, so some unnamed roads in the county are now being named to comply with the ordinance. 

Since the county adopted amendments to the road-naming ordinance, 911 addressing requires that roads be named and addressed. County fire departments are alerted once the roads are named for emergency addressing purposes. 

Residents can petition the county to have a private road named, and give suggestions on what the name will be.
