What has 400 hundred pages and over 400 photographs and tells about local history? If you haven’t guessed why it is the 2019 reprint of the Polk County History Book. In addition to information about the history of our local townships, this newest edition is packed full of church histories plus several hundred family histories from Abrams to York.

Learn how the county was carved out of the wilderness and the origin of Polk County’s name.  This reprint has a special section dedicated to our area’s Revolutionary War veterans. Which families were the first to settle in the county? These facts and more can be discovered inside the newest printing of the book.

Project chairman James Metcalf says the 2019 version is better than ever. The books were just delivered by the printer and this expanded edition has some new material not featured in the previous copies of the history book. In addition, this year’s reprint includes a helpful index in the back of the publication.

The history book is a project of the Polk County Historical Association. This glossy, hardcover book is a bargain. Members of the Historical Association will receive a discount for every book purchased. Visit the Polk County Historical Museum at 60 Walker Street in downtown Columbus or at the on-line store at www.polkncinfo.org .
