Getting your children and teens ready to go back to school is the perfect time to make sure they are up-to-date with their immunizations. Vaccination protects students from disease and keeps them and those around them healthy.
Check in with the Polk County Health Dept. and Blue Ridge Health at the Polk Health Center at 161 Walker St. in Columbus to see if your child needs a catch-up. Parents and guardians of Polk County children and teens also can now walk in for immunizations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday or can make an appointment by calling (828) 894-2222.
The Polk Health Center also offers sports physicals. Parents, guardians, teachers, coaches of student athletes and others can find resources on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s HEADS UP website to learn more about sports and helmet safety, brain injury basics and how to recognize and respond to a concussion.
Polk Health Center also offers comprehensive child and adult health services as well as family planning and maternity care. Learn more by calling 828-894-2222.
