Off to the auction

The conclusion of the ART OF THE HORSE project is quickly approaching, which means that many of the area horses have begun leaving their current locations. Over the next week, all horses going to auction will begin disappearing, so make sure to get out and see the horses while they are still around town.

Next Wednesday in Landrum, the horse that currently is at Ingles will be moved to its’ permanent home by the railroad tracks. This horse, designed by Tryon resident and local artist Vicki Van Vynckt, was sponsored and purchased by the City of Landrum. Mayor Bob Briggs said “Landrum is pleased to be the proud owners of One Beautiful Earth. We are sure she will enjoy her new home in view of residents and visitors across from the Landrum Depot. The N. Trade Avenue site offers her a wonderful view of Hogback Mountain to forever watch and match her own painted sunrises and sunsets.”

The horse that is currently at the railroad tracks named Constellation: The Stars Shine for Everyone is another of Van Vynckt’s pieces that was sponsored by an anonymous donor. This horse will be auctioned off on Sunday, April 14th at Cailtlyn Farms in Mill Spring.
