Kidnapping suspect barricades himself in home and sets it on fire 

 

LANDRUM—A man wanted for multiple counts of kidnapping out of Greer, South Carolina barricaded himself in a Landrum home Monday morning and set fire to the house.

According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, Jimmy Green, Jr., 24, barricaded himself inside the residence and then discharged multiple shots.  

The residence is located on Howard Road.  

Deputies who responded said they request SWAT and did call-outs attempting to get Green to surrender. There were other people inside the home, who escaped unharmed, according to sheriff reports.  

During the barricade, Green set the home on fire. No one was injured and Green surrendered and was taken into custody by authorities on scene.  

The Gowensville Fire Department responded and put out the fire.  

Green, as well as others, had warrants alleging that he held a victim against his will for several days, including reports that the victim was tied up and beaten.  

The alleged crime occurred on Dec. 25, 2018, with Green charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping, according to warrants with the Greer Police Department.  

Green was charged on Monday with possession of methamphetamine or cocaine based drug; possession of a schedule I and schedule II narcotic; discharging a firearm into a dwelling/vehicle and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.  

Green was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center and given a bond of $50,000, according to sheriff’s office reports.
