Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame announces Nominees for 2019

The Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame, which was created in 2017 to recognize excellence among show hunters and horsemen in the Carolinas, is excited to announce the 2019 nominees! Our 3rdannual induction ceremony will take place at Bruce’s Field during the Aiken Charity I Horse Show on May 3rd, 2019. Voting is open to Hall of Fame supporters/sponsors until March 1st, 2019.
The 2019 show hunter horse nominees are: Charade, Dreamboat, High Hearts, Lestat, and Leisure Time. To be nominated, the horse must have been stabled in North or South Carolina for a minimum of 6 months, proven itself as an outstanding show hunter (e.g., champion or reserve champion at a major national competition) and permanently retired from competing. Three horses will be inducted for this high honor.
The 2019 horsemen/horsewomen nominees are: Billy Haggard, Carol Kent, Jeanne Smith and Judy Young. To be nominated, the candidate must have resided in North or South Carolina for a minimum of 6 months, have participated in the show hunter community for a minimum of 15 years, and have made a substantial positive impact on the upper levels of the sport of show hunters. Two individuals will be recognized with this prestigious award.
Three horses have also been nominated for the Elma Garcia Award, which is given to an exemplary horse that competed in the Adult Amateur Hunter and/or Children’s Hunter divisions. The nominees for this award are: Bling Bling, Devise and Rip Van Winkle.
Also entering the Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame are members of the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame who have been nominated to the Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame and meet its criteria. This year the legends being inducted are J. Arthur “Bucky” Reynolds II, Earl “Red” Frazier and Don Stewart.
