The Flat Rock Park & Recreation Foundation has named Tryon’s Tracey Daniels as its new director of development.

Maurean Adams retires after five years of serving the foundation board. Adams played an integral role in bringing the Park at Flat Rock to life.

Daniels has more than 25 years of experience in public relations, marketing, community outreach and programming. She also serves as social media and website consultant for the Town of Tryon Tourism Board.

Along with books and reading, she has a true passion for parks, trails and outdoor education.

“I am honored to work for this incredible organization, town and public facility,” Daniels said. “Building upon the foundation and Maurean’s history and success, I am confident I can further the momentum, enthusiasm and dedication to the park and our supporters.”

Daniels has already crafted a tentative plan for 2019, which includes dedication ceremonies, a donor thank-you event, the annual Feast & Frolic gala and an official early-summer celebration for the Tot Lot Playground’s completion.

“Public parks have always been part of the fabric of my life,” she said. “My father worked tirelessly at Harmon Field in Tryon. Outdoor education and programming directly correlate to the health and happiness of my son. Hiking trails and nature walks are my happy place. The Park at Flat Rock is a local gem and I am honored to help the park continue to thrive, shine and grow.”

Joining the staff late last fall, Julia Buchanan continues as a part-time administrative assistant. Myra Grant expands her role as grant coordinator and development advisor.

The Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2013 by the village of Flat Rock to help raise the funds required to fulfill the vision of a signature municipal park for the community. Those interested in learning more may contact Daniels at tracey@villageofflatrock.org and 828-697-8100.
