Buddy William Kimura passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, December 21, 2018 age 81, with his wife at his side.

Buddy was the youngest of six children of Kan and Teiko Kimura. He was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio where he attended Scott High School. From there he was awarded a football Scholarship to Michigan State University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. Buddy was proud to serve his country as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserves during the Vietnam War. While on a tour of duty at Holy Loch in Scotland, he met the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Ann Cessford.  They were married in Flint, Michigan in 1969. Buddy returned to teaching in the Flint School School System for the next 40 years. He was also a very successful High School Basketball coach. He was the Athletic Director at Flint Northern High School until his retirement. Buddy and Pat then moved to Tryon, NC where they continued to enjoy carriage driving with their Welsh Cobs. Buddy also played golf and was a disciple of Tai Chi.  Buddy made friends easily wherever he went as he was truly an officer and a gentleman and a genuinely good man.  Every day was a grand day for Buddy and he and Pat had many wonderful adventures together and tales to tell.

Buddy was predeceased by his parents, sister Haru, and brothers George, Jack, Jim, and by an infant son Patrick.
