Edna Olive Florig, 103, of Columbus, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at her residence.

Edna, a native of Crofton, Nebraska, lived in the Chicago area during her married life with Andrew Florig. She graduated from The University of Chicago and taught at the university lab school and in the public schools in Illinois.

After her retirement, Edna traveled extensively. She lived in Florida before moving to Columbus and continued her bird watching and varied interests.

Edna was predeceased by her husband, Andrew; four brothers; and a sister.

Surviving are a son, Philip A. Florig of Columbus; a daughter, Vivian E. Torrence of Columbus; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Vivian and Philip wish to thank the staff of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for their support.
