Ruth Sheehan Hensley

Ruth Sheehan Hensley, 94, of Sandy Plains, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
She was the daughter of the late John Walker and Ollie Waldrop Sheehan, and widow of Joel Clyde Hensley. She was retired from Polk County Department of Social Services and was a member of Sandy Plains Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a son, Jerry; a daughter, Linda Hardin (Donald Ray); a granddaughter, Paula Steele (Dan) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a grandson, Clay Hardin (Eliza) of Laurel Park, North Carolina; six great-grandchildren, Ezra Hardin, Cyrus Hardin, Ella Steele, Jonah Hardin, Mason Steele and Savannah Steele; two sisters, Joyce Riddle (Carrol) and Barbara Eichenberger (Danny) of Tryon, North Carolina; one brother, Stokes Sheehan (Carolyn) of Campobello, South Carolina; 11 nephews and nieces;16 great-nephews and nieces; 24 great-great nephews and nieces; and six great-great-great nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Dewey Sheehan (Hazel) and J.T. Sheehan (Louise).
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-2:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Sandy Plains ARP Church.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at Sandy Plains ARP Church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sandy Plains ARP Church, 350 Sandy Plains Road, Tryon, NC 28782.
The family wishes to thank the staff of White Oak Manor and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for the care they gave to our mother.
