Jane Armstrong, of Tryon, recently donated her handmade pillowcases and boxes of new bed pillows for the shelter clients at Steps to HOPE.
The seamstress wanted to contribute something that would offer immediate comfort and something the survivors of domestic and sexual abuse “could hold onto during and after this storm in their lives.”
Armstrong bought and collected colorful, happy fabrics, and created 40 unique pillowcases. Additionally, with her shopping skills at Kohl’s, Jane was able to purchase a new bed pillow for each pillowcase.
Now, when a client comes into the shelter at Steps to HOPE, they are greeted with a new pillow that is theirs to keep.
Steps to HOPE is the domestic violence and sexual assault center located in Columbus that serves and educates western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina. Those interested in learning more or who need assistance for themselves or loved ones may call 828-894-2340.
