Wolverines soccer team continues shutout streak at Mountain Heritage

Polk County recorded its third straight shutout Monday, picking up a road Western Highlands Conference boys soccer win with a 2-0 decision at Mountain Heritage.

The win improves the Wolverines to 11-9-1 overall, 7-1 in WHC play. Mountain Heritage dropped to 3-9, 2-6.

Jesus Avellaneda gave Polk a 1-0 lead at halftime with an early goal. Matias Akers then added an insurance tally late in the match, assisted by Sean Hudson.

The Wolverines had 28 shots on goal in the match.

“We would generate attack but couldn’t execute the finish,” said Polk head coach Josh Trejo.

Polk County hosted Madison on Wednesday in its final regular-season home game.
