Landrum man killed last week along I-26

A woman was charged with felony driving under the influence after a crash last week that killed a Landrum man.

Jacquelynn Spivey, 50, of Lexington, S.C. was charged with felony DUI involving death and child endangerment, according to police reports.

Wayne “Larry” Jerome Johnson, 62, had pulled his truck to the side of the road to re-secure his load, when Spivey’s Honda ran off the right side of the road and struck his pickup truck.

The crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. last Thursday near mile marker 8 of eastbound Interstate 26.

Troopers said Johnson’s truck was parked in the emergency lane and he was thrown from the truck and died at the scene.

Spivey had three juvenile passengers in the vehicle. She and all three passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Spivey was out of jail as of Monday morning under a $100,000 bond.

Johnson is survived his wife, five children, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
