Glassy Mountain Fire Department to celebrate 30 years of service with open house Saturday

October is Fire Prevention Month, and the Glassy Mountain Fire Department is celebrating 30 years of service to the community by hosting a Fire Prevention Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its headquarters, at 2015 Highway 11, Landrum. 

A special recognition ceremony honoring current and past employees, volunteers and commissioners will be held at 11:30 a.m. The event will take place rain or shine.

An abundance of activities and events are planned for all ages, including a free barbecue lunch, fire station tours and fire safety demonstrations/training, including “Stop the Bleed” training at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and “Hands Only CPR” training at 10:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.  The Blood Connection also will hold a blood drive.
