On Sept. 5, at almost 91 years old, Juanita Appel, a White Oak resident, went skydiving. She was working on her “bucket list.” Appel went tandem sky diving in Chester, South Carolina. Her family, Shannon Rizer and Ann and Pete Crandall, were on site to watch her soar through the clouds. She loved the entire experience, she said. Her advice to aging gracefully is to enjoy it. The professional staff at Skydive Carolina facilitated the dive. Appel was accompanied by Rita Motter, director of White Oak — it was Motter’s first skydive also. (Submitted by Ann Crandall)
