Tryon’s Buss earns alternate berth for Drive, Chip & Putt regional

Tryon’s Addie Buss finished fourth overall Saturday in the Drive, Chip & Putt SubRegional Qualifier held at Fort Jackson Golf Club in Fort Jackson, S.C.

Buss finished third in putting to help earn a spot as an alternate in the 7-9 age group for the regional competition. Top golfers at the regional level will earn a berth in the national tournament set for April 7, 2019 at Augusta National Golf Club, home of The Masters.

Pineville’s Ella June Hannant and Zada Lee Hannant qualified for the two regional berths. Morgan Sanders of Goose Creek, S.C. finished third for the first alternate spot, with Buss earning the second.

Buss qualified for the SubRegional with a second-place showing at the Drive, Putt and Chip local competition held in July at Willow Creek Golf Club in Greer. At the local event, Buss won the drive and chip competitions.

In the event, each golfer compete in all three skills, earning points in each skill.
