A suggestion for the ‘Charters of Freedom’ display

I was so excited when I read about Foundation Forward Inc. providing Polk County with replicas of the Charters of Freedom (copies of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights) to be displayed in our area.

I know the commissioners are to meet and decide the location of the display, but I would like to suggest the Veterans Park in Columbus. It would draw children and adults to this park to remember and be aware of those who served our country to protect the very freedoms listed in those documents.

I am saddened that our children are not taught as thoroughly as we were taught when I was in school. I see this display as a beautiful way of exposing everyone to these documents, and to promote patriotism in our county.
