AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs with the goal of improving lives and fostering civic engagement. AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 members in service annually to serve through nonprofit, faith-based and community organizations at 20,000 locations across the country.

AmeriCorps Project Conserve individually places members in service with host site organizations, several of which are located in Polk County. These service members work to protect the natural resources of the southern Blue Ridge Mountain region through education, citizen science, volunteerism and direct service.

To apply, people may visit conservingcarolina.org/americorps/projectconserve. Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis, so people are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to be considered.

The service term begins Sept. 4 and concludes on July 31, 2019.
