Polk County District Court Results – Aug. 15

In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, with Judge Fritz Mercer presiding, 100 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.

The following people were convicted of a crime:

Taneshia Suncir Avery was convicted of carrying a concealed gun. Avery was sentenced to three days in jail, with credit for time served.

Michael J. Bellissimo was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Bellissimo was fined $40 and court costs.

Byron Allan Born was convicted of two counts of assault of a government official/employee. Born was sentenced to 30 days in jail with credit for time served.

Benjamin Damascus Byars was convicted of failure to appear on a misdemeanor. Byars was sentenced to four days in jail with credit for time served.

Collin Jasiah Mills was convicted of failure to heed light/siren. Mills was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for time served.

James Keith Pruitt Jr. was convicted of speeding 79 mph in a 70 mph zone. Pruitt was fined $94 and court costs.

James Edward Staley Jr. was convicted of no operator’s license. Staley was sentenced to five days in jail with credit for time served.

Adrian M. Tidwell was convicted of level five driving while impaired. Tidwell was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, 24 hours of community service, a $100 fine and court costs.

Kevin Scott Tomberlin was convicted of level five driving while impaired. Tomberlin was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation, 24 hours of community service, a $100 fine and court costs.
