Dr. Lucille Hampton Daniel, “Lucy,” 87, of Tryon Estates in Columbus, North Carolina, formerly of the Green Hill Community, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, North Carolina.

A native of Rutherford County, North Carolina, she is the daughter of the late Ed and Jennie Lee Rucker Hampton and the widow of Glenn Daniel. 

Lucy was a retired educator and author, having taught at Northwest Cabarrus, Odell, East Rutherford and R.S. Central high schools.

She is survived by two nieces, Shay Arrowood Guffey and husband Larry, and Shawn Arrowood Parker; sister-in-law, Brenda Arrowood; and a number of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 264 N. Main St., Rutherfordton, with a visitation to follow in the family life center.
