Fun for the whole family

Despite the change in venue, there was plenty of food and fun for the whole family in downtown Tryon on Tuesday. The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce partnered with the town of Tryon and Big Brothers Big Sisters to host a special Business After Hours event that afternoon. While the rain forced organizers to move the party from Rogers Park to the Tryon Fire Department across the street, by 6 p.m. the station was packed with nearly 200 adults and children. Several new Littles and Bigs signed up for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program that afternoon as well, organizers said. (Photos by Ted Yoakum/Tryon Daily Bulletin)

A group of children create some chalk drawings inside the fire house.

Young visitors could also make crafts, have their faces painted or get some pink and purple highlights in their hair during the event.

Guests enjoy some barbecue and fixin’s, prepared and served by chamber, town and Big Brothers Big Sisters officials.

The Trophy Husbands band entertain guests inside the station.

Some of the adults took advantage of the activities Tuesday afternoon as well.

Before leaving, children were able to grab some free door prizes.
