The Kiwanis Club of Tryon will host an informational drop-in from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Landrum Depot.
The Kiwanis Club of Tryon is announcing a new satellite club. Those who want to help children and families in the area are asked to attend the free event, organizers said.
Drinks and appetizers will be served at this event hosted by members of the Tryon club.
The new satellite club will accommodate those who cannot meet at the regular Wednesday lunch meetings held at the Congregational Church social hall, but who want to be a part of this organization that focuses on helping the youth of Polk County and Landrum.
Recent projects of the Kiwanis Club include a reading program at local day cares, high school Key Club, playground improvements, Feed-a-Kid Program at Outreach Ministry, Terrific Kids at elementary schools, college scholarships for Polk County High School students and support for Big Brothers Big Sisters, just to name a few. Some of these same programs can be implemented in Landrum.
Those who are interested may RSVP to Kiwanis President Marianne Carruth at 828-817-1209 or Janet Sciacca at 864-457-6530 by Tuesday, Aug. 7.
