PJ was born on Oct. 30, 1995, in Dunedin, Florida. He moved to Columbus, North Carolina, as a child, and graduated from Polk County High School in 2014, where he loved being a cadet in the Polk County High School Marching Band and was a member of the ski and snowboarding team.

He was active in the Boy Scouts, and made it to the level of Life Scout.

He truly was an amazing young man with a heart of gold who was honest to a fault. He had a witty sense of humor and had an infectious laugh. He was extremely intelligent in all ways, and never missed an opportunity to share his knowledge and teach those who asked for help.

He will be missed beyond words.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his sisters, Rosemary (Bobby Mee) and Samantha (Miller Hogan); maternal grandfather, William “Pop Pop” Friedrich; paternal grandparents, Tina and Philip Waisman Sr.; and many very loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

A casual memorial service will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Steps to HOPE Community Room, at 60 Ward St., Columbus.

A gofundme account has been set up to assist the family with expenses. Donations may be made at gofundme.com/in-memory-of-pj-waisman.
