New Landrum cigar lounge offering more than just a smoke

LANDRUM — The brick house in the triangle between South 349 and East Rutherford Street has a new life.

The rooms are filled with overstuffed couches, fine leather furniture and chess sets. A cushy dog bed fills a corner in the library. Even the porch chairs are comfortable and inviting.

Don Broadhurst and Ernie Roy, co-owners of the recently opened Cameroon Lounge, are creating a new community space for Landrum.

“We want a place where people in the community can come and relax and enjoy each other’s company,” Broadhurst said. “This is not a bar. It’s a place where people can enjoy finer cigars and drinks with taste.”

The lounge features some of the finer cigars on the market, such as Arturo Fuente, Alec Bradley, Punch, La Flor Dominicana and Kristoff. The cigar humidor is outfitted with its own specialized humidification system that keeps the air temperature at 70 degrees and the humidity between 65 and 70. The water in the humidor is specially filtered, as is the water throughout the building.

Currently, the lounge sells coffee and soda, but will soon offer fine wines and beer, on tap as well as bottles. Broadhurst said they will start with craft brews such as beers from Thomas Creek and 13 Stripes breweries.

Broadhurst and Roy opened the first Cameroon Lounge in Greer four years ago. After extensive research and looking, they settled on Landrum as the obvious location for their second shop, Broadhurst said.

“We looked all over the upstate and thought Landrum was the best fit,” he said. “It’s up and coming, especially with the equestrian center. This location also has great traffic and parking.”

The new owners hope the community will take advantage of all they have to offer. Broadhurst said their Greer lounge hosts a lot of events, such as community yard sales, bachelor parties and weddings, and they hope Landrum will take advantage of the new space for such events.

“We have lots of college students who come in and use the Wi-Fi,” he said.

The Cameroon Lounge is located at 611 E Rutherford St., and is open from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, people can visit cameroonlounge.com or call 864-655-7722.
