The Rotary Club of Tryon recognized John Gargiulo as the 2018 John Wells Rotarian of the Year at its meeting on June 28.

Gargiulo was recognized for his long-term commitment to Rotary International. Gargiulo has been a member of the Rotary Club of Tryon for over 18 years, and he was a member of the original Rotary Club No. 1 in Chicago prior to moving to Tryon.

Since he joined the club, Gargiulo has been an integral part of the Rotary Club of Tryon’s Shrimpfest and every other activity the club sponsors, members said.

The Rotary Club of Tryon’s John Wells Rotarian of the Year award is named after former club member, John Wells.  In 1972, Wells was elected Governor of Rotary District 7670.  Since 1974, the Rotary Club of Tryon has recognized a member with the Rotarian of the Year award for their service above self.

Past President Judy Lair presented Gargiulo with this award.
