Mary Katherine Byars Constance, 76, of Landrum, passed away Wednesday morning, July 4, 2018, at the Smith Phayer Hospice House.

Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of Tom and Ila Byars and wife of the late Hollis Constance, who passed away in 2009.

During her working career, Mrs. Constance worked for Simpkins Industries, Carolina Yarn Processing and Hatch Mill. After retirement, she enjoyed reading.

In the past, she attended Grace Baptist Church.

Surviving is one son, Jeffrey A. Constance of Landrum; one daughter, Mary Cantrell (Allen); one brother, Robert Byars (Doreen) of Columbus; three sisters, Sarah Brooks and Murial Hord both of Landrum and Frances Moody (Phillip) of Duncan; two grandchildren, Jessica Bren (Scott) and Adam Page (Summer); and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Brenna.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.

Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
