Webber hails from the north woods of Upper Peninsula Michigan, where, in a past life, he studied biology and worked in the pharmaceutical industry. His passion for researching and practicing ceramics has been a longstanding undercurrent, which ultimately led to his establishment of Foxfire Pottery studio in Columbus.

“There is something about a ball of clay spinning on a pottery wheel and being transformed into a pot that deeply satisfies my right brain desire to create a thing of beauty,” Webber said. “There is also something about the Western Raku process, which entails constant analyzing and adjusting for numerous variables, that nourishes and challenges my left brain. The harmonizing of my left and right brain, in addition to…inspirational influences, contribute to the unique character of my pottery.”

Webber’s work is located in TACS’ gallery at 373 Harmon Field Road, Tryon. Webber is also represented by the shop at TACS.

Both are free and open to the public Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
