Polk Extension Office to offer canning jam and jellies classes
Published 8:00 am Wednesday, June 27, 2018
Locally grown, peak-ripe produce is about to appear at farmers markets, roadside stands and backyards all over the county. People may preserve summer flavors all year long with abundant amounts of strawberries, blueberries and peaches. With the many local varieties of fruits, jams and jellies can be made to use later or give as gifts.
Attendees can learn step-by-step tips on preparing and canning jams and jellies at the Polk Extension Office. Canning jams and jellies classes will be on Monday, July 2, at 2 and 6 p.m.. Both classes cover the same material and will last two hours. This is a hand-on class and participants will leave with a finished product.
To register, call the extension office at 828-894-8218.
