Chair of art collaboration project to speak at next Kiwanis Club of Tryon meeting

Published 8:00 am Saturday, June 2, 2018

John Wilkins, chair of the Unity project, will be the featured speaker at Wednesday’s lunch meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Tryon.

Under the leadership of Wilkins and with the financial support of Polk County Community Foundation, the UNITY project is a special collaboration using the visual arts, music and spoken word to define what “unity” means to the Foothills community.

The first in this series was completed in 2017 with more than 150 locals and professional artists creating unique collages to express themselves individually and collectively. This year, the UNITY project is working with area organizations to capture a history of the region and encourage greater collaboration.
