A Progressive Agriculture Safety Day for children ages 8 to 12 will be on Tuesday, June 12, at the Polk County Extension Office in Columbus from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is being conducted by Polk County 4-H in conjunction with the Progressive Agriculture Foundation as a way of keeping kids safer this summer. During the safety day, children will participate in interactive activities that reinforce the importance of taking responsibility for their safety, respecting parents’ safety rules and sharing safety tips with their family and friends. Hands-on demonstrations will take place to teach participants lifesaving first aid techniques, as well as other important safety topics. For more information or to register children, parents may call 828-894-8218. (Submitted by Helen Blackwell)
