I guess I must be about the only person around in favor of the road project for Highway 108, though I find it curious that some of the most vocal opponents are not Tryon or Columbus residents.   

None the less, I use 108 for one reason or another almost every day, and from my experience, it’s past time to deal with the narrow curves and poor turn lane situations at the hospital, library and exit off to U.S. 176, just to mention a few of the issues.    

This is a state of North Carolina highway, not a local street, and it carries nonlocal traffic in addition to EMS vehicles and fire trucks providing emergency services and commercial vehicles that service merchants in Tryon.   

If my property were affected, I would be less enthusiastic, of course, but as a frequent user of the road, I look forward to improved visibility and safety along the road when improvements have been made.
