Lewis C. Hawkins

Lewis Casteel Hawkins, 90, of Tryon, NC passed away, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at The Crossings at Reynolds Mtn., Asheville, NC.
Born in Murphy, NC, he was the son the late Casteel and Mae Hawkins and widower of Georgie Hawkins who passed away in July of 2017. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Lewis loved the outdoors and nature, as well as cattle and horses. A cherished love of his was his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tryon.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew.
Surviving are one son, Tom Hawkins (Terry) of Lenoir, NC; one daughter, Judy Holmes (Ed) of Asheville, NC; four grandchildren, Josh (Liza), Sarah, Jennifer (Michael) and Teige; five great-grandchildren, Avery, Lawson, Alaphair, Jack Roland and Harper; one brother, Marvin Hawkins (Grace) of Murphy, NC. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
A memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Dr. Jeff Harris officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
