Polk County rebounded from Tuesday’s loss to Owen with a pair of wins Wednesday over East Henderson in a nonconference boys tennis doubleheader.

The Wolverines shuffled their lineup, with usual No. 1 and No. 2 singles players Ryan Heider and Henry Heider unavailable to play, but still earned wins of 5-4 and 6-3.

In the 6-3 win, Polk County captured four singles matches, with Henry Monts, Payton Stott, Ethan Edwards and Jesus Avellaneda all victorious. Monts and Stott and Avellaneda and Edwards also won their doubles matches.

In the 5-4 triumph, the teams split singles matches, but Monts-Stott and Edwards-Avellaneda delivered doubles victories to secure the match win.

Polk County improved to 9-2 overall, with East Henderson dropping to 0-10.

Polk County returned to action on Thursday at Avery in a Western Highlands Conference match.
