Wolverine golfers battle weather, S.C. teams at Links O’Tryon
Polk County’s golf team continues to battle cool and windy weather this spring, facing a pair of South Carolina schools on Monday in a tri-match at Links O’Tryon.
Blue Ridge, South Carolina, fired a team score of 156 to win the day’s competition, with Union County, South Carolina, posting a 185 and Polk County following with a 197.
Senior Dillon Overholt led the Wolverines with a nine-hole score of 45, followed closely by freshman Carson Emory with a 46. Hunter Lynch added a 51, with Trey Thompson and Nick Wilson each recording 55s and Blake Rackley finishing with a 58.
Blue Ridge had three golfers break 40 as Bo Upton carded a 38, and Jake Harvey and Taylor Meredith each recorded 39s.
Polk County golfers were back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Newland for a match at Mountain Glen Golf Club.
